At the start of every season, RuMe launched a series of new patterns. For the Fall of 2019, I came up with this design; Spruce. I didn’t want to design a pattern that featured typical Fall imagery like leaves and pumpkins. If you walk around the countryside in Colorado, you’ll see that leaves aren’t the only thing that lay scattered across the ground during the season. Pine cones also lay everywhere, so I decided to incorporate their shape into my design. By using rich Fall colors, I was able to make a pattern that invoked to feeling of Fall without calling out any unoriginal images or shapes.
